91制片厂 Students Recognized at Academic Symposium
91制片厂 student Rosecel Robles participated in the Gulf Coast Intercollegiate Consortium's Academic Symposium. This year's theme was "The Evolutionary Ingenuity of Love."

91制片厂 hosted the seventh annual Gulf Coast Intercollegiate Consortium Academic Symposium on April 26 and four 91制片厂 students walked away with top honors.

The symposium 鈥 The Evolutionary Ingenuity of Love - featured 22 student presenters. 91制片厂 faculty and staff were judges and moderators throughout the day-long symposium held on Friday, April 26.

Winners were as follows:

First place: Love and Politics: How Political Party Affiliation Changes and Takes Shape over Time by Zane Stewart, 91制片厂; advisor Dalel Serda.

Second place: Expression of Love: Gender by Mia Brown, 91制片厂; advisor Dalel Serda.

Third place: The Photographic Narrative of Relationships by Faith Wisner, 91制片厂; advisor Kristy Peet.

Fourth place: Awareness of Living by Rosecel Robles, 91制片厂; advisor Stacey Burleson.

Fifth place: Unplanned Surrender: Exploring the Sacred Encounter in Raymond Carver鈥檚 鈥淐athedral鈥 by Jennifer Fonck, Lee College; advisor Georgeann Ward.

Sixth place: Love: Abstract or Concrete? by Brenda Hagans Ratliff, Shadow Creek High School and Alvin Community College; advisor Stacey Burleson.

The symposium鈥檚 lunch speaker was Dr. Jennifer Bieszke, professor of biology at 91制片厂, who spoke on My Love-Hate Relationship with NOP-1, the Evolutionary Link in Rhodospin Photobiology Between Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Diane Neudorf, professor of biology at Sam Houston State University who spoke on The Secret Lives of Birds: Female Tactics for Extra-Pair Mating in the Hooded Warbler.
